About The Author – James Tzitzon
I wrote this book to ensure a history of what we did as registry of motor vehicle inspectors will always be remembered. I spent half of my law enforcement career with the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles, becoming an expert on motor vehicle law, while enforcing traffic laws, licensing new drivers, reviewing identification fraud, teaching and training local police on various traffic laws, accident investigation and motor vehicle titles among other aspects. We as registry inspectors helped residents traverse the regulatory aspects and the various complaints regarding accidents, registration and titling problems.
I also was part of a special team helping implement the new federal commercial vehicle licensing law in Massachusetts. Working closely with ten other registry inspectors, we handled a time sensitive mandatory retesting of commercial vehicle operators for the new federal law with a one-year time frame. A very important law enforcement section that accomplished much in support of the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles, that aided the state not losing federal money.
However, a new law consolidating four statewide police agencies into one new police department in July of 1992, ultimately ended the proud legacy of the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicle Inspector position. It was tough to be part of that. Hopefully you, the reader will enjoy this book as it details that proud history that hopefully will not be forgotten.

Through the American Heart Association, I became an Affiliate Faculty member in Basic Life Support (CPR). I went on to become a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician and Massachusetts Certified EMT Instructor.
During my law enforcement career for close to 10 years, I oversaw the Massachusetts Criminal Justice Training Council’s State Mandated First Responder Program, transforming it from a poorly run program into a top-rated effort that oversaw more than 300 instructors.
Additionally, I served as Deputy Director of Emergency Management, formerly known as Civil Defense, for my city for 10 years.
At present, I have served as a fraternal chapter president for 24 years, growing the organization from 8 members to over 52. I continue to oversee that effort, including its scholarship program.
I am also the President of AHEPA 39 Inc., the owner corporation of our AHEPA Senior Living building in the area, a role I have held for over 12 years.
Additionally, I am a certified Basic Firearms Instructor and a LEOSA-qualified retired law enforcement instructor.
These positions naturally grew from my strong background in administration and demonstrated leadership throughout my career.
